PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Preparation of a flood risk assessment (FRA) for the Oval Building which houses the Electricity National Control Centre for all of Ireland. The purpose of this study was to identify the flood risk, from any source, to the building. The FRA was generally carried out in accordance with ‘The Planning System and Flood Risk Management, Guidelines for Planning Authorities’, published in November 2009 by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government (DoEHLG) and the Office of Public Works (OPW).

The scope of the overall study was as follows:

  • Data collection, Review of existing reports, datasets, surveys
  • Assessment of flood risk from the River Dodder
  • Assessment of flood risk from groundwater sources
  • Assessment of flood risk from surface water sources
  • Assessment of flood risk from combined foul/storm system
  • Conclusions and Recommendations
