J. B. Barry and Partners Limited were initially commissioned by Cobh Golf Club to input into feasibility study options in terms of extending their existing 9-hole course – or relocating to a new location at Marino Point.
Following the decision to relocate, J. B. Barry and Partners Limited led that design team in the purchase of lands, attainment of planning permission for a new course on a 115 acre site. Other team members were Hawtree Ltd – course designers and Wilson Architecture, clubhouse and ancillary building designers. Close liaison occurred with specialist Client committees.
Issues arising for us were earthworks, effluent treatment and a standalone WTP plant solution, site water supply for potable and course maintenance, large new artificial lakes and water features, storm water drainage, attenuation and percolation, access roads and car parking, inputs to landscaping and site aesthetics on the large elevated site with strategic views and vistas over Cork Harbour, interface and accommodation of neighbours, temporary buildings.
