Ballyshannon Water Supply Scheme

The demand area for the scheme consists of a large part of the Southern region of Donegal and includes the towns of Ballyshannon, Rossnowlagh, Bundoran and the rural areas southwest of Donegal including Ballymagroarty, Cashelard, and Rath/Lisminton. It is recommended to develop the supply area as one Regional Water Supply for the entire southern region of Donegal in compliance with the Local Government Act, 2001. The project examines the available source options in the region for the scheme and the adopted selection process for the optimum scheme source.

The principle activities are as follows:

  • Preliminary Report
  • Design Review Report
  • Hydraulic modeling (Epanet) of water supply system for approximately 44km of watermains ranging in size from 100mm to 350mm
  • Design of DMAs, preliminary water audit, condition assessment and upgrading of existing watermains
  • DBO contract documents (FIDIC)
  • Preparation of CPO and Part 8 planning documentation, wayleave negotiations and landowner agreements
  • Traditional contract documents (new PWC)
  • Design of watermains, rehabilitation and augmentation of existing network
  • Site investigation tender document preparation and administration
  • Review of Derryherk WTP (process and civil)
  • Archaeological tender document preparation and administration
  • Ecological assessment and Appropriate Assessment
