Our engineers have proudly participated in various activities related to Engineers Ireland's STEPS Engineers programme.
Three teams of volunteer engineers virtually visited three primary schools that are taking part in the STEPS Young Engineers Award. Our volunteers gave inspiring presentations on what it’s like to be an engineer and, following these presentations, the school pupils presented their engineering projects.
We’re honoured to have taken part in this excellent opportunity to promote engineering as an exciting career choice while having great fun listening to all the imaginative ideas from the young, budding engineers!
Our volunteers for this session included Luke Mercer as the co-ordinator along with Aastha Sethi, Noel Navya, Soumya Avati, Ciara Collins, Charlie Conridge, Chukwuma Emelife, Marinel-Cornel Popa and Olivia Shannon.
Additionally, Deirdre O'Hara and Willie Lalor visited Holy Family National School to give students an insight into what it’s like to be an engineer as part of Engineers Ireland STEPS Engineers Week. During this visit, they shared information about what it is like to work as a geotechnical engineer and structural engineer and what projects they’re working on. Afterwards, the students were able to step into the engineers’ shoes by taking part in various engineering activities.
A special thanks to Engineers Ireland, Ennis National School in Co. Clare, Kilcoe National School in Co. Cork, Rampark National School in Co. Louth and Holy Family National School in Co. Sligo for hosting this programme and having us.
