    Renewables

The purpose of this energy recovery project is to use the available head between the Vartry Water Treatment Plant and the Callowhill Reservoir site to generate hydroelectricity. The treated water is currently pumped via four 315kW high lift pumps from Vartry up to the Summit of the Hill where it enters a Break Tank. The water then gravitates to the Energy Recovery Building at Callowhill through an 800mm pipeline.

We have been appointed to carry out a Feasibility Study and Concept Design for the proposed Hydro Turbine, to liaise with the ESB and other key stakeholders, determine the environmental and planning requirements, grid connection agreements, and to inform the client of the most economically viable method of reusing this generated green energy.
