Wastewater Discharge Licencing - Technical Support - Lot 1 NW Region, Various Locations
The licensing and certification process ensures compliance with various EU Directives by the imposition of restrictions or prohibitions on the discharge of dangerous substances and thus preventing or reducing the pollution of waters by wastewater discharges.
The EPA guidance on the preparation and submission of Annual Environmental Reports for wastewater discharge licences 2020, states that the following three tasks are legal requirements for annual reporting of environmental information by Waste Water Discharge licences.
- Annual Environmental Report - Submission of an electronic PDF copy of the full AER.
- Urban Wastewater Treatment Data - Reporting of Urban Wastewater Treatment data via EDEN-MDS, and the summary excel spreadsheet for plant, agglomeration and receiving water.
- PRTR Emissions Data - Reporting of emissions and waste transfer information for the Pollution Release and Transfer Register. WWTP facilities with a capacity above 10,000 PE must submit a PRTR with the AER, as part of the monitoring reports section.
We were appointed by Irish Water (IW) to liaise with the Local Authorities and assist in the preparation of AERs via Irish Water’s Environmental Information Management System (EIMS). We had to review the information inputted into EIMS and the draft AER’s to ensure that they met with all the requirements of the EPA and Irish Water. We assisted with the coordination, review and submission of the AER licences for approx. 150 WWTP over an intensive 4-month period in 2021. IW subsequently commissioned us to implement the same process for 2022.
