N17 / R320 Lisduff Junction Upgrade, Mayo

The N17 is a single carriageway National Primary Road running between Galway and Sligo.  The route is part of the Atlantic Corridor route and the Trans-European Transport (TEN-T) Network. It is the main north-south link between Galway City and Sligo Town.

We were commissioned by Mayo County Council to undertake an assessment and upgrade of the existing R320 Junction on the N17 at Lisduff, located near Claremorris in County Mayo. The previously existing junction had been the scene of numerous collisions, some fatal, in recent years.

Our design solution prevents right turning movement from the mainline carriageway. A left-in and left-out junction, along with an overbridge, has been provided at each side of the mainline carriageway.
