    Transport & Traffic Assessments

The Castletreasure, Douglas development comprises 472 units, which consist of 234 semi-detached and terraced houses, 160 apartments and 78 duplexes, with 4.4 ha of parkland and amenity space, a crèche, and the establishment of a greenway, and all associated infrastructure and services.

The site was challenging in terms of topography as it is elevated to the south of the site. The project layout was designed with these challenges taken into consideration.

Additionally, the designs retain and are mindful of the existing environmental aspects, provide pedestrian connectivity throughout the area, and encourage active travel, making this a development that is socially and environmentally sustainable.

A Traffic and Transport Assessment was undertaken as part of an extensive EIAR for this development. This included assessment of existing vehicular movements and manoeuvres at nine existing local, urban and rural junctions and capacity assessment of these junctions in With Development and Without Development scenarios. A Stage 1-2 Road Safety Audit was completed for the design proposal and comments from that audit were taken on board by the design team.
