SDCC Safer to School Streets Project, Dublin
Active Travel
We have been appointed by South Dublin County Council to assist with the delivery of the SDCC Safer to School Streets Project. The aim of this project is to restrict traffic to create a safer environment in which children can feel encouraged to walk, cycle or scoot rather than using a car when travelling between their homes and their schools. Upon completion, benefits of this project include enhanced safety for children cycling, walking and scooting to school through a reduction in traffic congestion at the school gate, reduced CO2 emissions in the vicinity of the schools, improved noise and air quality in the areas surrounding the schools, promotion of better physical health and general wellbeing by providing alternatives for travelling to and from school, improved accessibility and social inclusion for various social groups, enhanced public realm and improved public transport and school bus services through better journey times and journey time reliability.
