    Urban Roads & Streets

Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council and the National Transport Authority appointed us as their consultant and lead designer on the Braemor Road Enhancement Scheme.

The Braemor Road Enhancement Scheme is a two-kilometre urban renewal scheme to improve bus, pedestrian and cyclist facilities and reduce traffic speeds.  The scheme includes, among other things, for the upgrading of cycleways, bus stops, footpaths, carriageway, landscaping, signage and road markings.

The scheme significantly improved facilities for cyclists and pedestrians, including mobility impaired and disabled and provided additional safety measures for all road users.

The Specification for the scheme was developed in accordance with the NRA Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and the NTA Project Office Details. Given the urban environment, reference was also made to the Traffic Management Guidelines and the National Cycle Manual as necessary.

Additionally, we undertook the role of Road Safety Auditor for Stages 1-3 of the scheme. The Audit Team sought to identify problems early, thus minimizing the need for changes as the scheme progressed.
